Financial Considerations
It’s likely it is less expensive for you to live in Cambodia, however, there are some financial matters for you to plan for.
You can stay at a simple guest house for $15 per night or in more comfortable places for $25, $50, $100 per night. We recommend you insure you have hot water, laundry access and air conditioning.
It depends on how you want to eat. If you are not accustomed to living or visiting a developing country like Cambodia we recommend you be cautious about eating food from stalls on the street – they may not be hygienic. Your meals can be as cheap as $2 for breakfast or $5 for lunch but probably not more than $10 for an evening meal. We have every kind of food in Siem Reap!
You will need transportation. Hiring a “tuk tuk” or “PassApp every day for multiple trips can bet expensive – sometimes $5 per trip. We recommend hiring a tuk tuk driver who can take you wherever you want to go and whenever you want to do.
You will not speak Khmer and a general rule of thumb is to don’t think the person translating for you or two whom you are speaking understands English.
FKC would like to help you:
We can arrange for all your accommodations, meals, transportation and translator. If you prefer to make your own lodging arrangements of course you are free to do that, but it’s possible through our contacts we can get you a discount. We highly recommend that you allow us to assign a “host” for you. A host is a Cambodia staff or FKC partner who will be your guide, protector, translator and transportation connection. We can’t stress how important this is for you. Our goal is your comfort, safety, health and enjoyment.
Please contact us if you have more questions and for an application. We believe you can have a VACATION WITH A PURPOSE IN SIEM REAP with FUTURE OF KHMER CHILDREN ORGANIZATION!
